    My Story

Welcome! I am Melissa Finley, a person-centered, trauma informed therapist who specializes in treating clients with anxiety and shame. My first experience with the therapeutic process was when I went to my own therapist at 21 years old, and my life shifted significantly due to that relationship. After spending the first part of my career in schools, I decided that I wanted to dive deeper into the study of the mind and body connection and learn everything I could about how this connection impacts our relationships, habits, and choices. I continue to be in awe of this connection and I am excited to share this process with you!

As a neurodivergent adult, I continue to learn more and advocate for my community. I love music, and my family and I like to spend our free time singing, writing songs together, and making short music videos for fun. I’m adventurous and enjoy long bike rides with no agenda, spending time with friends in the city, and visiting the ocean every chance I get. I have a deep respect and love for Mother Earth and am passionate about living in a more sustainable way that is conscientious and that shows respect for our children’s future.

    My Approach

I take a compassionate, relational approach, rooted in authenticity to ensure that sessions are tailored to your individual needs. My therapeutic approach is trauma informed, relational, and experiential. I enjoy working with clients long-term, as well, and work well with those clients that are looking for a deep transformation. My use of somatic experiencing throughout my practice will allow you the space to become more connected with your inner, wise self. With compassion, insight, and expertise, I will assess the various issues and their layers as I provide interventions that are both supportive and challenging.

I am a great listener, offering deep analytical insights based on my understanding of details within your narrative. Together, we will come up with a plan that highlights your strengths, and provide you with an increased awareness of your experiences, allowing you to unlock your full potential.

In addition to individual counseling, I offer parent training for couples that are interested in learning the respectful parenting methods to bring more peace into your home.
